Welcome to the Youth Tree Ambassadors Program, where we educate kids about trees and their importance in our lives. Our mission is to inspire young people to become stewards of the environment. Learning about trees and how to care for them is a great contribution to the community
We work with schools to provide engaging and informative lessons on trees and their impact on our communities. By teaching kids about trees at an early age, we can instill a lifelong love of nature and a sense of responsibility for the environment. An orchard becomes a living classroom that connects beyond the traditional forms of study.
Our mission creates networks of orchards in different communities. Here, kids can learn hands-on about tree care, harvesting, and other important aspects of tree cultivation. We strive to foster a sense of community and connection, as well as promote the benefits of orchards and trees in our everyday lives. It is these networks that nurture the growing knowledge of food culture.
Connection is education
Furthermore, our program teaches children about the importance of trees and orchards. Our information focuses on how they can contribute to a healthier and more sustainable future. Making a difference starts with passing on the right knowledge. As a Youth Tree Ambassador, your child or student will learn about planting, observation, and care of trees and orchards. They will be trained to become a steward of the trees at their school and be responsible for their care and maintenance for one year.
A 2020 study published in the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior found that children who participated in garden-based learning were 2.6 times more likely to choose fruits and vegetables as a snack compared to those who did not participate in such programs.
We encourage teachers and parents to initiate Youth Tree Ambassador Programs in their schools by creating a school orchard and training Youth Tree Ambassadors to care for it. This will create a valuable learning opportunity for students that will also benefit the environment.
